5VIE Design Week 2025

A Journey into the Heart of Design and Art in Milan

The 5VIE Design Week 2025, now in its twelfth edition, will take place from April 7 to 13, 2025, in the heart of Milan’s historic center, covering the area between Corso Magenta, Sant’Ambrogio, and the Colonne di San Lorenzo. This annual event celebrates contemporary design, high-end craftsmanship, and the fusion of art and creativity, making it a must-visit during Milan Design Week 2025.

At the core of this edition is Invisible Harmonies, an immersive experience that explores the hidden connections between the visible and invisible, form and meaning, objects and intuition.

More than just a design exhibition, 5VIE Design Week 2025 invites visitors to rethink design as a network of unseen relationships that shape the way we perceive and inhabit the world.

Theme: Invisible Harmonies

Harmony is more than mere symmetry or aesthetic balance—it is the art of balancing diverse elements, creating connections between materials, volumes, and proportions. Just as sounds combine in music to evoke emotions, in design, the interplay between solids and voids, structure and fluidity generates unique sensory experiences.

As early as the 6th century BCE, Heraclitus described harmony as the result of opposing forces meeting—an idea later embraced by philosophers like Plato and contemporary design theorists.

Often, the truest harmony is invisible: it is not immediately perceived but emerges from the deep relationship between elements. This principle transcends architecture, design, and art, guiding the creation of objects that go beyond functionality to become perceptual and conceptual experiences.

A Design That Connects Matter, Space, and Spirit

Harmony is not reserved for artists and designers; it is a universal key that shapes everyday life. From collectible design to architectural spaces, understanding and shaping these harmonies means bridging the gap between objects and symbols, function and poetry. Invisible Harmonies invites us to rediscover design as a bridge between worlds, a language that reveals profound and often imperceptible connections.

Misha Kahn – Abject: Inhabit the Poché

American artist and designer Misha Kahn navigates the world of design like a cartographer of the unknown, challenging conventions and blending chaos with control. His approach merges craftsmanship, technology, and material improvisation, drawing from eclectic influences—ranging from the vibrant energy of Niki de Saint Phalle to the organic fluidity of Verner Panton. Whether sculpting digitally or working with diverse materials, his creations always manifest as visually striking landscapes, seemingly emerging from an alternate dimension.

His latest project, Abject: Inhabit the Poché, makes its debut at 5VIE Design Week 2025 as a manifesto of this radical vision. Abject is more than just a brand—it is an expansion of Kahn’s material language into a broader production, redefining the concept of domesticity through movement. The IZK chairs, inspired by traditional Japanese design, transform into animated performers in a dynamic stage setting. Within an immersive environment draped in fabric and illuminated by shifting light, the silhouettes of the chairs appear to dance in continuous motion, evoking the poetic fluidity of Chinese shadow theater. Objects come to life, interacting with their surroundings and seemingly engaging in a silent dialogue with the audience.

At the core of Kahn’s work is a fundamental rejection of the idea that objects are merely static entities. His creations do not simply exist; they invite spectators into an alternative reality—one that embraces playfulness, disorder, and meticulous attention to detail. By blurring the boundaries between art and design, Kahn crafts a universe where the unexpected becomes the new norm.

Richard Yasmin: Divine Decadence

Produced by 5VIE and hosted at the Cavallerizze on Via Olona 4, Richard Yasmin’s installation Divine Decadence offers an aesthetic and conceptual journey through luxury, sensuality, and playful provocation.

The collection, an ode to temptation and excess, features art de la table pieces—vases, containers, and reversible bowls—sculpted from marble, with elements in stainless steel or left in their raw material form. At the tips of each piece, delicate jasmine camellias, crafted from double silk organza, bloom as symbols of both glory and fragility.

To further enhance the works, mother-of-pearl chopsticks are designed to integrate seamlessly with the shapes, evoking the forbidden fruit and blurring the line between art, luxury, and erotica. This suggestive design transforms functional objects into instruments of pleasure and conversation, highlighting the delicate balance between aesthetics and desire.

Divine Decadence explores the fusion of art and fetishism, illuminating the shadowy realms of human desire while challenging taboos through a refined, bold visual language. It is a celebration of expressive freedom, inviting the viewer to reconsider the boundaries between beauty, provocation, and symbolism.

Sara Ricciardi Studio: The Chrysalis Knows The River’s Song

Produced by 5VIE and hosted at the Cavallerizze on Via Olona 4, The Chrysalis Knows The River’s Song by Sara Ricciardi Studio is an interactive installation that delves into the concept of metamorphosis.

Inspired by the fragile moment before flight, the piece captures the tension between stillness and transformation. The chrysalis, from the Greek chrysos (gold), represents a vibrant threshold of change. It is a cocoon that holds the flow of life, ready to be reborn. Inside the sculpture, visitors experience an aquatic sound bath, an evocative journey that recalls the constant flow of a river towards the sea.

Like a golden hourglass suspended in time, the installation invites the body to feel, move, and become part of the metamorphosis. It prepares visitors for the moment of flight. Additionally, the project is enhanced by the embroidery of the historic Antica Fabbrica Passamanerie Massia Vittorio 1843, which adds sophistication and craftsmanship to the sensory narrative.

Anotherview presents “Bar Altra Vista”

Anotherview is excited to introduce Bar Altra Vista, an exclusive project hosted at Cavallerizze in the heart of the 5VIE district during Milan Design Week. This spin-off of Trattoria Altra Vista, expanded from its previous edition at Palazzo Litta, offers a space where design, culture, and community converge. More than just a bar, Bar Altra Vista will host talks, presentations, and cultural events, while maintaining a welcoming and convivial atmosphere. Furthermore, future editions of this project are planned for New York and Dubai.

Inside, the design of Bar Altra Vista reflects the authenticity of an Italian bar. The ritual of enjoying spritz is complemented by billiard games on an Hermelin table and lively conversations. Music enhances the environment, creating the perfect backdrop for savoring drinks and delicious food amidst the energy of Milan Design Week. The space combines contemporary, refined design with a sense of familiarity, creating a truly unique experience.

This project results from a collaboration among Italian designers and artists, including Anotherview, Andrea Mancuso of Analogia Project, Duilio Forte, Simone Fanciullacci, and others. Bar Altra Vista will also feature exclusive events, such as the launch of the first collection by Studio F, works from Duilio Forte’s Lupus in Fabula project, and a dining area curated by Chef Aldo Ritrovato. In partnership with Mayice Studio, Duilio Forte has redesigned the space, creating a warm yet majestic environment. The wooden structure evokes the belly of a whale, transforming Bar Altra Vista into an immersive experience that celebrates design, art, and Italian gastronomy.

FMM Design: “Plinio,” The Eruption of Vesuvius in Art

In an era of lifestyle changes and climate change, FMM Design presents “Plinio”, an installation that commemorates the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. The work explores global change and uncertainty, aiming to bring comfort and serenity into domestic spaces. Each element is designed to tell a piece of history and evoke a sense of connection with the past, making art a symbol of resilience and hope in the contemporary world.

Glass & Glass: Nothing New to Invent

The collection “Nothing New to Invent” explores the transformative power of nature. It captures the primordial energy of the Vesuvius eruption in pieces that merge sculpture and functionality. The Plinio table, crafted from natural basalt, symbolizes the strength and geological memory of the volcano, with a black glass top that evokes solidified lava.

The Plinio lamps reinterpret the drama of the volcanic eruption with a base of lava stone and a cloud of resin and cement treated with volcanic ash, creating evocative lighting. Each piece transforms the destructive force of Vesuvius into refined artistic expressions, suspended between historical memory and material innovation.

During the 2025 Fuorisalone, the event “Nothing New to Invent” will pay tribute to Carlo Nason, the renowned Murano glass chandelier designer. The collection “I Tondi”, designed by Carlo Nason in collaboration with the international studio S20M, will be showcased. The sculpture symbolically represents the embrace of the region’s ceramic community, merging history, culture, and creativity in a collective work that celebrates the craft’s tradition.

DILIBORIO: Heart of Glass

Heart of Glass is a work that explores the fragility and resilience of time through the image of a worn-out shirt. It is not merely fabric and thread, but a living memory, a heartbeat that preserves the essence of a special moment. The piece becomes a symbol of how memories have the power to regenerate what seems lost. The color reappears, the form returns, and it crystallizes—not fading away, but remaining eternal, suspended between what has been and what will forever be.

Massimo Rigaglia – Primitive Lighting System

Primitive Lighting System is a modular floor lighting system designed to adapt with great versatility to different spatial destinations. Its simple and raw appearance evokes a primordial gesture, chosen both aesthetically and functionally to create a practical, unpretentious result. A spontaneous, natural gesture that connects to the roots of humanity and its history, evoking a deep bond with the earth.

Michael Milesi – HEA Lamp

The HEA Lamp, designed by Belgian designer Michael Milesi of Millesimi Design, transforms an H-shaped metal beam into a luminous marble icon. The light that passes through the fragmented structure creates a captivating balance between the solidity of stone and the lightness of the beams. Each piece merges craftsmanship and innovation, offering elegant, contemporary design that captures attention.

The headquarters 5vie: Palazzo Correnti at Via Cesare Correnti 14

Prendete & Mangiate by Carolina Levi of Spazio Giallo

Curated by Carolina Levi, founder of Spazio Giallo, and produced by 5VIE, the “Prendete & Mangiate” exhibition transforms the dining table into a space for contemplation and listening. It is no longer just a place for consumption and socializing but an environment where objects speak in silence. These objects hold stories and invisible fragments of life.

The installation, hosted at 5VIE Headquarters at Via Cesare Correnti 14, brings together vases, ceramics, glass, and objects that absorb the unspoken. They preserve folds, cracks, and traces of presences that brush against the air. The food is no longer the protagonist, but what remains: the emptiness, the memory, the imperceptible tension between absence and permanence.

A heterogeneous collective of designers and artists, including Aleksandra Zawistowska, Alice del Ferraro, Andrew Pierce Scott, Astrid Luglio, Mario Trimarchi, Francesca Anfossi, and many more, brings forth a poetic reflection on materiality. Each piece tells the story of its ability to capture time and emotions.

For the 2025 edition, Artisia will support the project and participate in the setup, helping shape an immersive experience that invites visitors to read between the lines of the visible, where words stop, and objects begin to speak.

Sara Ricciardi x Rometti and Doodle Rugs: Girotondo

Produced by 5VIE and hosted at the headquarters on Via Cesare Correnti 14, “Girotondo” is a poetic installation by Sara Ricciardi, in collaboration with Rometti and Doodle Rugs.

The work explores love in its most authentic form, expressed through the spontaneous and instinctive vision of children. Six vases, arranged in a circle, evoke a playful and symbolic ritual. These vases express the pure essence of affection and connection.

At their feet, rugs with free-flowing, fluid lines expand like living doodles, transforming the floor into a textile landscape where feelings take shape.

“Girotondo” is a celebration of collective love’s movement, a continuous dance that unites and envelops. The installation invites viewers to step into the designs, feeling the invisible embrace of emotions. It also imagines a world where, thanks to love, we all stand together.

Hiva Alizadeh – Invisible Harmonies

An exhibition dedicated to the works of Iranian artist Hiva Alizadeh, hosted at 5VIE Headquarters – Via Cesare Correnti, 14.

The artist deconstructs the ancient concept of Persian carpets. Instead of traditional weaving, she uses colorful synthetic hair, giving life to layered surfaces that change with light and observation.

Alizadeh’s work moves between painting and sculpture, creating an effect of suspension and lightness. Each piece offers a unique visual and tactile experience.

Her creations evoke the primordial contrast between water and fire. Impalpable flames float above vertical flows of water. These two opposing forces, essential to life, meet in an unexpected harmony.

Alizadeh’s works are displayed in prestigious public and private collections across Europe, the Middle East, China, and the United States. Notable institutions include AKZONOBEL Art Foundation (Amsterdam), Palazzo Monti (Brescia), Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation (Los Angeles), and Lajevardi Foundation (Tehran).

ALÊ JORDÃO: Artistic Tapestry – Sneakers

For the 2025 Milan Design Week, Alê Jordão presents his “Artistic Sneaker Tapestry,” one of his favorite works. The sneakers, from his collection, are photographed by the artist and printed using a modern technique: digital printing on tufted nylon with a Persian finish.

Beni Rugs – Intersection: Beni x Studio KO

Beni, a global brand known for responsibly made Moroccan rugs, presents “Intersection,” a collection created in collaboration with architectural studio Studio KO. The installation takes place in a former fabric shop in the 5VIE district.

Collection draws inspiration from themes of time and recording, transforming artifacts of industrial society into Moroccan rugs. The fusion of Studio KO’s design and Beni’s innovative approach to craftsmanship creates a unique blend of material, memory, and technique.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Studio KO, “Intersection” marks the debut of Beni’s most ambitious textile constructions, featuring five different weaving methods. The collection includes a reinterpretation of the R’bati carpet, a hyper-fine knot style originating from Rabat, Morocco, dating back over 500 years.

FLAIR: Mirage (Creative Director: Franco Mariotti)

For the 2025 edition, FLAIR interprets room number 5 at Cesare Correnti with the installation “Mirage.” A space suspended between dream and reality, featuring stripped surfaces, natural light, and shadow zones. At its core, a mirage evokes a smoky atmosphere.

The collection, entirely handcrafted by master artisans, explores metals, irregular surfaces, oxidized patinas, mirrors, and soft padded fabrics. Sandy white is the dominant color. “Mirage” is a refuge from the noise of time, an echo of imaginary places and ancestral memories.

Collection perfectly represents FLAIR’s aesthetic, where craftsmanship blends with design intuition. Irregular surfaces, unexpected geometries, and unique details celebrate the beauty of imperfection, revealing beauty through subtraction. “Mirage” invites viewers to lose themselves between reality and illusion, rediscovering the true meaning of living spaces and creating worlds as works of art.

Iyo Hasegawa: ANGLE

work “ANGLE” by Iyo Hasegawa explores geometric transformation using tools such as protractors and triangular rulers. Project revolves around changing angles and shapes, where the combination of these tools alters both the appearance and function of the object.

The use of acrylic, a transparent and lightweight material, creates a visual effect that seems to make the forms float, while the connection between the parts enhances the geometric balance and freedom of thought. This exhibition will feature furniture that embodies this dynamic and orderly design principle, reflecting a flexible and evolving concept.

Johnny Li: CONVIVIUM

For Milan Design Week 2025, architect and designer Johnny Li presents “CONVIVIUM,” an installation that explores the essence of gathering through design. Part of his YILINE collection, the work centers around CATHERINE, a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional Mahjong table, conceived not just for play but as a central element of modern life. Its triangular silhouette invites fluid interaction, reformulating the social geometry of games while embracing shared space rituals.

Surrounding CATHERINE are four TETSU chairs with a streamlined structure that balances sculptural precision with quiet strength. TAY, a versatile stool and table, moves effortlessly between functionality and spontaneity. Completing the installation is TYLER, a rocking form that adds a playful rhythm and sense of movement to the composition.

Produced in Italy using reclaimed wood by Studio F, Li’s installation is more than a set of furniture; it is a reflection on connection, where materiality, movement, and memory merge to celebrate contemporary life.

On.Entropy x Art Rug Project: Holy Luci

Holy Luci is an extraordinary collection of lighting, marble furniture, and rugs debuting in April at the 5VIE district, renowned for its avant-garde art and design. Designed by On.Entropy, the marble studio founded by the Greek duo Niki and Zoe Moskofoglou, in collaboration with Art Rug Project by Electra Soutzouglou, the collection draws inspiration from the organic shapes and functional elegance of mushrooms.

At its heart is a sculptural, velvet-like rug—the first textile piece by On.Entropy—blending original techniques, textures, and finishes rooted in traditional craftsmanship. The rug’s fluid shapes and rich textures are harmoniously complemented by sculptural marble lights and furniture, transforming marble and fabric into fluid, jewel-like objects within the space.

Rooted in sensory exploration, Holy Luci celebrates texture, light, color, and material plasticity, inviting a new dialogue between marble and fabric to create a unique and harmonious interaction.

Cecilia Pantaleo: STUDI

STUDI is the result of a research project by interior designer Cecilia Pantaleo, exploring the evolution of lampshades into lighting fixtures inspired by stylized architectures. Over time and prototypes, the installation transformed into a small, luminous city, blending design and functionality in a new form.

Pietrachiara: Nouveau Réalisme

Pietrachiara returns to 5VIE with the iconic Anne columns, a piece of Italian craftsmanship in hand-carved lime wood. First introduced two years ago, they are now reimagined in a contemporary version with an ultra-pigmented finish inspired by Yves Klein blue. This choice of color harmonizes with the details of the historic Palazzo di Via Cesare Correnti. In the spirit of Nouveau Réalisme, elements come together through their “collective uniqueness,” showing how diversity can coexist in harmony—an especially relevant message today.

Rive Roshan – Chiaroscuro: A Light in the Darkness

“Everything has a crack. That’s how the light gets in.” (Leonard Cohen)

For Milan Design Week 2025, Amsterdam-based design duo Rive Roshan presents Chiaroscuro: A Light in the Darkness.Conceived as an offering of light, this project serves as a reminder of the beauty and power found within and around us. In a time often overshadowed by darkness, Chiaroscuro (literally “light-dark”) explores the possibility of finding hope through light.

The installation features new glass works that dance between light and color, inspired by the ordinary that surprises, moments that light up our soul: from the vast sky reflected in a water droplet to the feeling of a child holding an adult’s hand, and the beauty of a community coming together against forces that seek to divide it.

Chiaroscuro invites us to celebrate every act of light and kindness, no matter how small, as these gestures, collectively, have the power to become something much greater and more powerful than we can imagine.

Sagarminaga Atelier – Tuna Ex Machina

Sagarminaga Atelier presents Tuna Ex Machina at Milan Design Week 2025: a kinetic sculpture blending craftsmanship, movement, and technology. Inspired by the Atlantic bluefin tuna, this work challenges the boundary between the natural and mechanical, reinventing design as a living system in constant evolution.

The sculpture transcends static representation, combining plant fibers and metal to create a form that mimics the heartbeat of the ocean. It is not simply a homage to nature but questions instinct and programmed cycles. The tuna, an ancient navigator of the seas, becomes a hybrid entity, no longer driven by biological imperatives but by a mechanical rhythm and aimless migration.

Tuna Ex Machina offers a new relationship between the physical and digital, between nature and technology. In an era where immersive experiences are redefining the perception of art and design, this work does not merely occupy space; it interacts and adapts to its environment. Stasis belongs to the past; the future lies in integrating mobile, intelligent elements that generate new narratives and experiences.

Studio Mo Man Tai – Quilted Mirror Objects

Inspired by meticulous techniques, Quilted Mirror Objects reinterprets acrylic mirror scraps into vibrant geometric compositions that play with light, texture, and color. Founders Ulrike Jurklies and Paul Bas have committed to sustainability by incorporating acrylic mirror scraps in collaboration with Pyrasied, leaders in eco-friendly plastics.

This installation explores the beauty of reusing materials, transforming excess into functional and visually dynamic art. The interplay of reflections and light creates a unique sensory experience, where the material takes center stage, while the focus on sustainability adds depth to the project.

Mani Studio – Terre e Trame: A Radical Dialogue Between Ceramics and Knitting

Terre e Trame is a project that explores the material tension between the solidity of ceramics and the flexibility of knitting, redefining the boundary between craftsmanship and contemporary design. In this unique encounter, traditional ceramics are reinvented through the use of color, glazes, and manual manipulation.

Knitting, in turn, transforms into a sculptural and architectural structure, expanding its expressive possibilities. The project creates a dialogue between two seemingly distant craft techniques, resulting in a unique fusion where materials respond to one another, pushing the limits of traditional design.

Federica Sala: Negativi

Federica Sala presents a unique lighting installation featuring new pieces from her blown glass and metal vase collection, a distinctive exploration of the balance between lightness and solidity. Each piece, strictly one-of-a-kind and numbered, is the result of handmade craftsmanship that merges the vibrant transparency of glass with the rigor and materiality of metal.

The collection reflects Sala’s artistic research into the tension between opposing and seemingly incompatible materials: the hand-blown glass expands into organic and unpredictable shapes, while the carefully turned and cut metal defines its structure with geometric and refined details. Each vase, signed by the artist, tells a story of craftsmanship and experimentation.

Massimiliano Pipolo: Dans la salle de bain

The glass Bell Jars, Domes, or Cloche have traditionally been display and glorification tools, used in the past to showcase symbolic objects, such as “les cloches des mariées” that protected and framed the crowns of young brides, symbolizing a special memory.

In his work, Massimiliano Pipolo transforms these glass bell shapes into Les Cache Choses, making them opaque and resistant to the gaze. These pieces become archetypes of hidden, intimate, and deep memories, evoking an inner world of light, shadows, dreams, and memories.

Les Cache Choses refer to a sacred, interior space where moments are kept that, although no longer tangible, remain intact in our secret world. For MDW 2025, the Dans la Salle de Bain installation features a selection of Caches Choses, translating their message of intimacy into the language of design through objects such as mirrors, appliques, and bell jars that symbolize our inner selves and private world.

Zade Design – Goccia di Lacrima Collection

The Goccia di Lacrima Collection by Zade Design is inspired by nature and craftsmanship—two sources that nourish the human soul, spark creativity, and awaken aesthetic senses. Combination of these two elements creates perfect harmony and authentic beauty, with each piece exploring the richness of materials carefully worked by hand.

The focus of the project is to ensure that each product is unique, customized, and crafted with diverse textures. Every creation in the Goccia di Lacrima collection is a masterpiece shaped with artisanal skill, expressing human expertise in working natural materials.

All products in the collection are limited edition, making each piece a unique expression of originality. Zade Design’s motto, Natura, reflects the intention to enrich people’s lives with personalized designs that leave a lasting impression.

Chendù / Fainplast: “Where Do You Want to Go?”

Second year of the Chendù / Fainplast collaboration at MDW continues with further experimentation, aiming to create experiences that can shake up the collective imagination. Goal is to establish a new balance between design, art, and circularity. The outdoor installation, inspired by the dreamlike world of Alice in Wonderland, represents a labyrinth where one can get lost and then find their way. A journey that explores unexplored horizons, featuring 2025 designs in marble, travertine, metal, and plastic, upcycling, and high craftsmanship, where aesthetics and functionality merge in sculpture and decor.

Accademia Teatro Alla Scala

The Accademia Teatro alla Scala, the training center of the prestigious Milanese theater, will also play a key role during the week. Academy trains artistic, technical, and managerial professionals who work in the world of live performance. Festive day in the 5vie District will be made even more special by many talented young people dreaming of a career in theater and performing arts.

Luca Trazzi for F.A.N. Europe Lighting – Graffito di Luce

LOCATION: Via Caradosso, 3 (small cloister and in the Sacristy of Santa Maria delle Grazie)

In the installation Graffito di Luce, Luca Trazzi, in collaboration with F.A.N. EUROPE Lighting, evokes key elements linked to Bramante, drawing inspiration from a decorative graffiti depicting flowers found in the plaster of the cloister. The lamps feature a round, light, and radiant structure, creating luminous pathways within the portico with their warm light. Light elements shaped like flowers transform the garden into a theater of lights and shadows, playing among the columns and foliage. Inside the Sacristy, a straight path is marked by two parallel rows of floral-shaped floor lamps. The number eight and its multiples, used in the arrangement of the lamps, pay homage to Bramante, who had applied them in the tribune with the twelve apostles and the four evangelists.
