Calvin Klein’s Return and the Shift Away from the Official Fashion Week Calendar
After January’s menswear month, the fashion calendar resumes with the real “fashion month.” February is the month of fashion, starting as always with the New York Fashion Week FW25, which will take place from February 6 to February 11, 2025.
However, the fashion week season was preceded by Berlin Fashion Week FW25 (February 3-6) and Seoul Fashion Week FW25 (February 6-10). New York’s shows officially kick off the fashion world in 2025.
This year hopes to be less turbulent than 2024, when brands faced the global luxury crisis, with a slowdown in the Asian market and unexpected surprises in the U.S. market. Challenges ahead are many, including the potential impact of Trump’s tariff war and distracted consumers less inclined to purchase products perceived as overpriced compared to their true value.
The chill of this month isn’t only from the cold temperatures but also from the financial cracks beginning to show. However, optimism for the future is necessary. The NYFW February 2025 calendar features over 52 shows and presentations, marking it as a crucial moment in fashion innovation.
Between Confirmations and Comebacks
The New York Fashion Week FW25 will see the return of iconic fashion names, with confirmed shows from Michael Kors, Tory Burch, Carolina Herrera, Coach, Khaite, and Brandon Maxwell, who will kick off the week at 1:00 PM on February 6. Todd Snyder also returns for a second consecutive year. One of the most anticipated comebacks is Calvin Klein, which will return to the runway after six years, now under new creative director Veronica Leoni at 12:00 PM on February 7.
Among the other major returns, Christopher John Rogers comes back after 5 years, and Norma Kamali returns after more than 10 years. Thom Browne, who skipped SS25, will close the week with a highly anticipated show. Another significant comeback is that of Nicolas Ghesquière, the former creative director of Louis Vuitton, who will present the final collection for his eponymous brand on February 3, marking an important moment in the fashion landscape.
Alongside these big comebacks, brands like Altuzarra, Collina Strada, and Luar continue to surprise with their innovative creative vision. The week promises to be full of surprises, marking a positive start for the international fashion scene in 2025.
The Absentees
Willy Chavarria, who captured the heart of Italian singer Mahmood, will not show at New York but will present his collection in Paris, delayed by a few days. Other absentees include Proenza Schouler and Ralph Lauren, who have yet to confirm their plans for NYFW. Marc Jacobs will present his collection outside the official schedule on February 3 at 7:30 PM. Another off-schedule novelty is Tibi, which will host a press event on February 6 to showcase the behind-the-scenes work of the designers.
Numerous presentations are also planned in the city by brands like Bugatchi, Hervé Léger, Veronica Beard, Snow Xue Gao, Agrobly, Theophilio, Adeam, NIHL, Tanner Fletcher, and Colleen Allen, with appointments available by invitation.
The next NYFW event will take place in September 2025, from September 11 to 16.
