The thread that ties the past and the future
ZEGNA FW25 men – Alessandro Sartori, creative director of Zegna, presented the FW25 collection during Milan Fashion Week 2025. With his meticulous approach, the brand launched a strategic marketing campaign aimed at positioning itself in the highest segment of the luxury market. Every element in this collection has been perfected: from the color palettes to communication, to the representation of the designs.
Returning to the Origins: The Raw Materials
At the heart of the FW25 collection is the use of animal-based materials. Sheep, which play a central role in producing the raw materials, are recreated in large, scenographic screens symbolizing their pasture. The set, resembling a vast field with sand dunes, serves as a backdrop for the detailed work that goes from fiber selection to the creation of the final garment.
The result is a product of extraordinary quality: 12.9 micron wool, a level of fineness that makes each creation unique.
Tradition and the Legacy of the Founder
The return to origins is not only about the raw material but also about the figure of Ermenegildo Zegna, the brand’s founder, who established the Vellus Aureum brand in 1963. The name of the brand is no coincidence: Vellus Aureum refers to the mythical Golden Fleece, a symbol of the quest for excellence and perfection. Zegna dedicated much of his life to selecting the finest wool, with the aim of creating a tradition that was not only industrial but also tied to the growth and well-being of the shepherds.
Over the years, Zegna also established awards, such as the Tool Trophy in Australia, to recognize shepherds who produced the finest wool in the world. The quality of the wool, now reaching 9.4 microns for the finest fleece, is a testament to this long-standing search.
ZEGNA FW25 men: The Brand’s Evolution
The Zegna FW25 collection blends tradition and innovation. The looks fuse classic and modern elements: deconstructed blazers, washed Oxford suits, cashfur-collared coats, oversized shirts, and cardigans.
Zegna man, as envisioned by Sartori, is an individual who has “raided” a wardrobe gathering pieces of both emotional and material value over the decades.
The Golden Fleece and the Brand Philosophy
Vellus Aureum name evokes a legendary and mythical symbol: the Golden Fleece, which in Greek mythology represents an object of a heroic and difficult quest, symbolizing an extraordinary reward.
The use of this name is not incidental; it embodies the essence of the brand and its continuous pursuit of excellence.
Casting and Show Highlights
Casting for the runway show was carefully selected, including well-known faces like John Turturro, which added prestige to the event. On the runway, the classic forms of the brand emerged, with a color palette ranging from gray to beige, burgundy to black, enriched by macro patterns and designs that celebrate the beauty of wool. Among the fabrics, the classic Prince of Wales was used for jackets, while accessories were kept minimal to focus attention on the looks.
Continuous Innovation: Toward Excellence
Starting February 5, some of the looks from this collection will be available in stores. The ongoing pursuit of research and perfection is the guiding principle of Zegna, and this process is key to producing excellence. The FW25 collection is a testament to a commitment that goes beyond fashion, a commitment to excellence that forms the foundation upon which Zegna builds its legacy.
